
Hlodvir Thorfinnsson (933-993) was Jarl of Orkney from 992 to 993, succeeding Ljot Thorfinnsson and preceding Sigurd the Stout.
Biography[]
Hlodvir Thorfinnsson was born in 933, a son of Thorfinn Torf-Einarsson and the brother of Arnfinn Thorfinnsson, Havard Thorfinnsson, and Ljot Thorfinnsson. He succeeded his three brothers on their deaths in as many years in 992, by which time he had married a princess of Osraige and fathered Sigurd the Stout. He died from illness in 993 and was succeeded by his son.
