Hizb ut-Tahrir is an Islamist transnational political party that was founded by Taqiuddin al-Nabhani in 1953. The organization sought to create a caliphate that would rule over the Muslim World, spanning from Morocco in North Africa to the southern Philippines in Asia; this caliphate would proceed to conquer the rest of the world and enforce sharia law across the globe. The organization also opposed the existence of Israel and supported anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism. By 2015, Hizb ut-Tahrir had been banned in Germany, Russia, China, Turkey, and all Arabic countries but Lebanon, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates.
