Hispania Tarraconensis was one of three Roman provinces of Hispania which existed from 27 BC to 459 AD. It was founded to combine Hispania Citerior and the recently conquered lands of northern and central Spain, and Tarraco (Tarragona) served as its capital. In 459 AD, the Visigoths conqured the province from the Romans.
