Hiroshi Kanemura

Hiroshi Kanemura (died 2 March 2010) was a Japanese yakuza boss who served as patriarch of the Kanemura Enterprises subsidiary of the Tojo-kai's Shibata-gumi. In 2010, he was murdered by Yasuko Saejima on the orders of Isao Katsuragi, as Kanemura knew about Katsuragi and Kazuo Shibata's conspiracy surrounding the 1985 Ueno Seiwa hit.

Biography[]

Hiroshi Kanemura was born in Tokyo, Japan, and he joined the Tojo-kai yakuza clan and rose to be patriarch of the small Kanemura Enterprises crew within the Shibata-gumi. Kanemura was taken under Kazuo Shibata's wing, and he thus knew of Shibata's conspiracy with Uenoseiwa-kai officer Isao Katsuragi to stage the 1985 "Ueno Seiwa hit" to ensure that both men rose in the ranks of their families. Kanemura lacked that same ambition, instead preferring to stay within the enterprise.

In 2010, Kanemura approached Shun Akiyama of Sky Finance for a loan, as he struggled to pay his dues to the Shibata-gumi. Akiyama had him promise to retire and allow Hiroaki Arai to succeed him as the terms of his loan, but he was never to enjoy life after the yakuza. On the night of 1 March 2010, he was seduced by Yasuko Saejima, whom he brought into his office. While there, she kissed him and undressed him before stabbing him in the back of the head and killing him. Yasuko had been instructed by Isao Katsuragi to kill the Shibata officers aware of the 1985 conspiracy in exchange for the release of her brother Taiga Saejima from prison, and Kanemura's death led to a manhunt for both Yasuko and Kanemura's underling Takeshi Kido, who was wrongly suspected of involvement in the murder.
