King Hiram of Tyre
Hiram I of Tyre (1000 BC-946 BC) was the King of Tyre from 969 to 947 BC, succeeding Abibaal of Tyre and preceding Baal-Eser I of Tyre.
Biography[]
Hiram was born c. 1000 BC, and in 969 BC he came to power as king of Tyre. He formed a close alliance with King Solomon of the Israelites and provided skilled Phoenician craftsmen and cedar wood for building Solomon's Temple in the city of Jerusalem. In return, Hiram gained access to silver, ofod, and trade routes, and Tyre rose to prominence. In the 800s, after Hiram's death, Tyre took over Sidon and took over Mediterranean coastal trade.
