Hipparinus (436 BC-) was a Syracusan politician who was the father of the tyrant Dion of Syracuse. He was a man of large fortune and one of the city's chief citizens, and he squandered his own property in luxury and extravagance, lending his support to Dionysius I of Syracuse in obtaining the sovereignty of his nativee city. His daughter Aristomache married Dionysius, ensuring that Hipparinus remained in good standing.
