Hildeprand of Lombardy (710-1 June 744) was the King of Lombardy from 735 to 744, succeeding Liutprand of Lombardy and preceding Ratchis of Lombardy.
Biography[]
Hildeprand was born in 710 to the House of Ansprandling, a dynasty of Catholic Lombards. Hildeprand succeeded his father Liutprand of Lombardy on his death in 735 during his capture of Ravenna from the Byzantine Empire. However, the Duke of Friuli Ratchis led a pro-Papal States faction in Lombard politics and sought to seize power for himself. Hildeprand was deposed in 744, and he died the same year.
