Chief Okhotur of Dwin

Chief Okhotur of Dwin (1230-) was a noble of the Ilkhanate who was the Marshal from 1266, succeeding Shaman Chaghagan of Ranya.

Biography[]

Okhotur was born in 1230 to the Okhoturids, a dynasty of Tengri Mongols. In 1260, Hulegu Khan appointed him as the Chief of Dwin during his distribution of demesne titles to his courtiers, giving Okhotur a fief. He married Chieftess Yesugun of Dwin, and the two headed to the 1263 Great Feast of Qom, where Yesugun secretly had a sexual affair with Hulegu. On 6 March 1265 Okhotur asked Hulegu to give him the High Chiefdom of Armenia, and Hulegu agreed, making him a high chief. On 21 November 1266 he replaced Shaman Chaghagan of Ranya as Marshal of the Ilkhanate.
