High Chief Kotyan of Kirghiz

High Chief Kotyan of Kirghiz (1025-) was the high chief of Kirghiz from 1060, succeeding Khan Uzluk of Mongolia.

Biography[]

Kotyan was born in 1025 to the Manichaean Kyrgyz Yenisei Kirghiz tribe, and he was the son of Khan Uzluk of Mongolia. In 1040, the Liao dynasty conquered the Yenisei Kirghiz khaganate, and Uzluk led his tribe to present-day Kyrgyzstan. Kotyan succeeded him on his death in 1060, and he led the newly-created High Chiefdom of Kirghiz. Kotyan married High Chieftess Esin of Kirghiz on 15 September 1066.
