Hidalgo is a state of east-central Mexico, with Pachuca de Soto serving as the capital. The state, which shares borders with San Luis Potosi, Veracruz, Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Queretaro, was named for the independence leader Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla. In 2015, Hidalgo had a population of 2,858,359 people.
