Biography[]
Herriman Katz was born in Manhattan, New York City, New York in 1908 to a Jewish-American family. He once worked as a hustler before opening his own nightclub, Chateau Toledo, on 42nd Street and Second Avenue in Midtown, protected by the Barzini crime family. He also allowed Barzini associate Freddie Fattorini to run an illegal gambling racket out of his club, earning him extra money. In 1946, Corleone crime family associate Aldo Trapani extorted Katz and forced him to switch his allegiance to the Corleones; after a shootout, he then forced Fattorini to do the same.
