Hernan Naranjo (died 1980) was a Mexican drug trafficker who, along with his brother Hernin Naranjo, dominated the Guadalajara drug trade until their deaths in 1980.
Biography[]
Hernan Naranjo was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, the brother of Hernin Naranjo. The brothers became important marijuana dealers in the city, working in partnership with the local DFS police under Juan Jose Esparragoza Moreno. In 1980, Hernin was murdered by Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo in the lobby of a local hotel after a brief argument, and Miguel Angel and his associates Rafael Caro Quintero and Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo were arrested by the police and taken to Esparragoza after Miguel Angel claimed to have rescued the commissioner's brother. At the meeting between Miguel Angel and Esparragoza, Miguel Angel persuaded Esparragoza to become his business partner, only for Hernan to interrupt the meeting and aim his gun at his brother's killer. Esparragoza apologized to Miguel Angel, telling him that he had to protect his partners, only for him to turn and shoot Hernan in the head, killing him instantly. He then had his men dispose of the body, and he agreed to partner with Miguel Angel.
