Hermione

Hermione (1212 BC-) was the daughter of Menelaus and Helen of Sparta and the wife of Neoptolemus and Orestes.

Biography[]

Hermione was the daughter of King Menelaus of Sparta and his wife, Queen Helen. Her grandfather, King Tyndareus of Sparta, betrothed her to her cousin Orestes, son of Agamemnon. She was just nine years old when Paris of Troy abducted her mother, and, during the war, her father instead promised her to Achilles' son Neoptolemus. After the war ended, Menelaus sent Hermione to Phthia to marry Neoptolemus, but Neoptolemus was killed in Delphi soon after their wedding. Hermione became free to marry Orestes, and she gave birth to his son Tisamenus.
