Hereward the Captain (846-880) was a Danish Viking warrior who served as a captain in the army of Ledeborg under King Osbeorn. After the King's death at the Battle of Cambridge in 880, Hereward took over the remnants of his army, but King Alfred the Great and his West Saxon army gave chase and killed Hereward and either killed or captured his remaining warriors.
