
Henry Ziegenhein (1845-17 March 1910) was the Republican Mayor of St. Louis from 1897 to 1901, succeeding Cyrus Walbridge and preceding Rolla Wells.
Biography[]
Henry Ziegenhein was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1845, the son of German immigrants, and he worked as a carpenter before serving in the Union Army during the American Civil War. After the war, he worked as a building contractor, and he served on the city council from 1881 to 1885, as city collector from 1889 to 1897, and as Mayor from 1897 to 1901. He died in 1910.
