Henry William Lord (8 March 1821-25 January 1891) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-MI 1) from 4 March 1881 to 3 March 1883, succeeding John S. Newberry and preceding William C. Maybury.

Biography[]

Henry William Lord was born in Northampton, Massachusetts in 1821, and he moved to Detroit in 1839 and to Pontiac, Michigan in 1843, working as a farmer, merchant, and in the Foreign Service. After returning to Detroit and becoming involved in Republican politics, he served as consul to Manchester from 1861 to 1867, and he served in several state offices before serving in the US House of Representatives from 1881 to 1883 and as Register of the US Land Office at Creelsburg and Devils Lake, North Dakota from 1883 to 1888. He died in a railroad accident near Butte, Montana in 1891.
