
Henry Schuyler Thibodaux (1769-24 October 1827) was Governor of Louisiana from 15 November to 13 December 1824, succeeding Thomas B. Robertson and preceding Henry Johnson.
Biography[]
Henry Schuyler Thibodaux was born in Albany, New York in 1769 to two Acadian refugees who had fled from the French and Indian War. He was educated in Scotland during the 1780s and moved to Spanish Louisiana in 1794, settling in St. James Parish, Louisiana. Thibodaux later became a plantation owner in Lafourche Plantation and served as a State Senator from 1812 to 1824 before serving as Acting Governor from 15 November to 13 December 1824 after Thomas B. Robertson's resignation. In 1827, he died near Bayou Terrebonne at the age of 57.
