Henry Roberts governor

Henry Roberts (22 January 1853-1 May 1929) was the Republican Governor of Connecticut from 4 January 1905 to 9 January 1907, succeeding Abiram Chamberlain and preceding Rollin S. Woodruff.

Biography[]

Henry Roberts was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1853, and he graduated from Yale in 1878 and worked as a mattress manufacturer from 1886 to 1907. He served as a Hartford alderman in 1897, in the State House in 1899, in the State Senate from 1901 to 1902, as Lieutenant Governor from 1903 to 1905, and as Governor from 1905 to 1907. He died in Hartford in 1929.
