
Henry J. Hopper (1830-6 October 1905) was Mayor of Jersey City from 6 May 1878 to 2 May 1880, succeeding Charles Siedler and preceding Isaac W. Taussig.
Biography[]
Henry J. Hopper was born in New Jersey in 1830, and he became a merchant with the Crucible Steel Company of New York City before becoming involved with Democratic politics. He served as Mayor of Jersey City from 1878 to 1880, and he died in East Orange in 1905.
