
Henry Baldwin (14 January 1780-21 April 1844) was a member of the US House of Representatives (DR-PA 14) from 4 March 1817 to 8 May 1822 (succeeding John Woods and preceding Walter Forward) and an Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court from 18 January 1830 to 21 April 1844 (succeeding Bushrod Washington and preceding Robert Cooper Grier).
Biography[]
Henry Baldwin was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1780, and he became an iron furnace owner in Pittsburgh and Crawford County, Pennsylvania. He served as district attorney from 1799 to 1801, as publisher of The Tree of Liberty, in the US House of Representatives from 1817 to 1822, and on the US Supreme Court from 1830 until his death in Philadelphia in 1844.
