
Henry Bacon Lovering (8 April 1841-5 April 1911) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MA 6) from 4 March 1883 to 3 March 1887, succeeding Eben F. Stone and preceding Henry Cabot Lodge. Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he served in the 8th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment during the American Civil War and lost his leg at the Battle of Opequon in 1864. He went on to serve in the state house from 1872 to 1874, as Mayor of Lynn from 1881 to 1882, and in Congress, and he moved to Wakefield in 1907 and died in 1911.
