Hendrik-Jan Metz (1555-) was the Dutch governor of Sint Maarten during the early 17th century. In January 1600, he granted letters of marque to the pirate Jan Alen and encouraged him to plunder Spanish and French ships, leading to Alen attacking the Spanish ocean barque Maria Galande as it sailed to San Juan, Puerto Rico.
