Helmuth von Bulow was a General of the Prussian Army and Imperial German Army during the mid-19th century. Von Bulow was born to an old aristocratic Prussian family, and he followed in his family's military tradition and rose to command the 57,000-strong V. Armeekorps in Saarbrucken by the time of the Franco-Prussian War, during which he occupied Alsace-Lorraine for the North German Federation.
