Hellenic State was a collaborationist regime established in Greece by Nazi German occupation force in 1941, which lasted until the German withdrawal in 1944. It was initially led by a former general of the Greek Army, Georgios Tsolakoglou, though he ended up demanding more authority from the Germans and was subsequently replaced. The Hellenic State had little legitimacy in the eyes of the people.
