Hedley Lamarr (died 1874) was the Republican Attorney General of the Wyoming Territory during the 1870s.
Biography[]
Hedley Lamarr was a powerful railroad tycoon of the Wild West before being appointed Attorney General of the Wyoming Territory during the early 1870s. In 1874, Lamarr found that the town of Rock Ridge blocked the path of his new railroad, and he abused his power of pardon to have the Black railroad worker "Black Bart" be appointed the town's new sheriff with the goal of creating chaos among the white population and persuading them to leave. When this failed, Lamarr sent in a burly outlaw to create havoc, but he was taken down by Bart and the "Waco Kid", and Lamarr's attempt to have the cabaret singer Lili von Stupp seduce Bart backfired. As a last resort, Lamarr hired an army of outlaws, Mexican banditos, and Klansmen to destroy the town, personally overseeing their attack. However, they were lured into a false town built by the Rock Ridge townspeople and Lamarr's mutinous railroad workers, and the Waco Kid killed most of them by shooting barrels of dynamite placed around town. Lamarr attempted to flee, only to be shot in the groin by Bart and bleed out.
