The Hebertists were a faction of French politics during the French Revolution, with the populist journalist Jacques Hebert leading the group. The Hebertists spread their propaganda through Le Pere Duchesne, an extreme radical newspaper, and the Hebertists supported the dechristianization of France, direct intervention of the state in economic matters to ensure an adequate supply of goods (such as wine and grain), and extreme measures such as the Law of Suspects. After Hebertist deputy Jean-Baptiste Carrier was recalled from Nantes due to the cruelty shown to the French people during the War in the Vendee, the Hebertists plotted a coup against the Jacobin Club, so Maximilien Robespierre and Louis Antoine de Saint-Just ordered for the Hebertists to be exterminated during the Reign of Terror.
