He Yan (190-249) was an official of Wei and the grandson of He Jin.
Biography[]
He Yan was in charge of personnel as Cao Shuang's advisor, giving him almost total control of the government. Wary of Sima Yi, he advised Cao Shuang to strip him of his authority. While accompanying the Wei Emperor Cao Fang on a hunt, the coup d'etat occurred. He was captured and killed by Sima Yi.
