Havelok (died November 875) was a Danish nobleman from Hylrborg (Lincoln) and a Palatinus of the Order of the Ancients.
Biography[]
Havelok came to Lincolnshire as a young man with the Great Heathen Army. A member of the Order of the Ancients recognized Havelok's quick and ruthless intelligence, and introduced him to the Crozier. As apprentice to The Crozier, Havelok gained stature and experience. He became an established landholder and farmer in Lincoln, from where he bribed the shire soldiers to do his bidding. In 875, the Hidden Ones ally Eivor discovered his identity after finding a letter revealing Havelok's name at Aelfgar of Gainsborough's farm at Aelfgarstun.
Death[]

Havelok's body
In November of 875 AD, after Eivor had helped Hunwald rise to the position of Ealdorman of Lincolnshire, Eivor returned to Lincoln during his voyage to Jorvik (York). He decided to visit Havelok's villa, finding Havelok by himself, standing in front of his desk. Eivor crept in through a window, grabbed Havelok from behind, threw him to the floor, and stabbed him dead with his hidden blade. Havelok was unrepentant even during his last moments, saying that he did not regret any of the murders he committed to fulfill his destiny.
