Hassan Ali Khaire

Hassan Ali Khaire (1968-) was Prime Minister of Somalia from 1 March 2017 to 25 July 2020, succeeding Omar Sharmarke and preceding Mahdmi Mohammed Gulaid.

Biography[]

Hassan Ali Khaire was born in Jacar, Somalia in 1968, and he went into exile in Norway during the Somali Civil War and became a dual citizen. He worked as a businessman both with NGOs and in the public sector before entering politics, serving as Prime Minister of Somalia from 2017 to 2020. He was accused of disregarding the federal constitution, of failing to implement democratic elections, and of failing to improve national security, and he was ousted in a vote of no-confidence in 2020.
