Hashteh-Shahrivar bombing

The Hashteh-Shahrivar bombing occurred on 30 August 1981 when the MEK terrorist group detonated a powerful explosive at the Islamic Republican Party office in Tehran, Iran, killing 5 people. The Iranian Supreme Defense Council was the target of the attack, which occurred amid a series of bombing raids against Tehran launched by the Iraqi Air Force during the Iran-Iraq War. A "trusted aide" and "state security official", the MEK guerrilla Massoud Kashmiri, brought a suitcase bomb into the room, and it detonated when an aide opened it. The building exploded and was consumed in the fire, killing President Mohammad-Ali Rajai, Prime Minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar, and three others. The bombing, which occurred just two months after the Hafte Tir bombing, was another instance of MEK terrorism against leading Iranian officials during the early 1980s.
