Biography[]

Harusada 2

Harusada was born in the city of Edo in Musashi Province, which was ruled by the Edo clan, a family of peaceful and dependable daimyo. In 1175, Harusada became the new daimyo of the Edo clan, and maintained the family policy of peace and reliability.

However, he was unfriendly with the neighboring Kamakura Minamoto of Sagami Province, who had past disputes with the family. He did not make any agreements with Minamoto Yoritomo, and Yoritomo invaded Musashi in an attempt to expand his empire. Harusada was besieged in Edo when Minamoto Noriyori, Yoritomo, and a large army besieged Edo. He was killed in battle when Edo fell to the invaders in a pyrrhic Minamoto victory.
