Harunobu Adachi (died 1274) was a Japanese samurai and the daimyo of Clan Adachi during the 13th century. He was killed on the first night of the Mongol invasions of Japan in 1274.
Biography[]
Harunobu Adachi was born on Tsushima to Clan Adachi, and he came to be known as the best swordsman on the island. He fell in love with Masako after witnessing her fend off bandits, but he banished her from the clan after discovering her secret relationship with the thief Mai. He later fought alongside the Sakai clan during the invasion of Iki, but he was forced to retreat with the remaining clan member safter Kazumasa Sakai was killed. In 1274, he went into the Mongol camp on Komoda Beach to challenge the invading Mongol general Khotun Khan to a duel, but the Khan responded to Adachi's challenge by dousing him with wine before setting him on fire and beheading him.
