
Harrison Byers was a US Army captain who served as chief judge Dan Haywood's adjutant during the 1948 Nuremberg Trials. Byers was deployed to the American occupation zone of West Germany in 1946, and he took the German girl Elsa Scheffler as his girlfriend. He aided Haywood in obtaining a copy of the Weimar Republic constitution and Nazi judge Ernst Janning's legal textbooks in preparation for the trial.
