Harold Hollister was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-IN) during the American Civil War. In January 1865, Republican political operative William Bilbo attempted to convince Hollister to vote for the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment, but an angry Hollister drew his pistol and fired above Bilbo's head, frightening Bilbo into fleeing with his folio. He voted "no" to the amendment during the House vote.
