Haras ad-din Sinan (23 September 1150 – 3 March 1189), christened as Peter Richardson, was a member of the Hashshashin who later defected to the Knights Templar. His betrayal allowed the Templars to besiege the city of Masyaf, which was the Hashshashin stronghold in Syria. Haras was also the only son of Al Mualim.

Biography[]

Haras was born into a family of Assassins in the city of Masyaf, Syria to Rasid ad-din Sinan by a Christian mother. He was trained under his father, the wise teacher and Mentor of the Assassins in the Levant. Haras took the easy way, and found that his ideals were closer to that of the rival Knights Templar organization. He decided that since he did not possess enough innate skill to be promoted, he would defect to the Templar organization and gain power there.

In 1189, he initiated the Siege of Masyaf, opening the Masyaf Gate to invading Templar soldiers. He took over the castle and even captured Al Mualim, executing captives as he interrogated his father on the location of the Apple of Eden while locked behind the safety of the castle gates. However, Altair Ibn-La'Ahad, a Master Assassin, found a way to climb the walls and made his way past the Templar sentries, poised to strike.

Altair climbed the ramparts and fixed a position above Haras, who was wielding a crossbow and ready to strike another hostage with a bolt. However, Altair jumped down and in an air assassination, he stabbed Haras in the back of the neck as he fell. Haras told him, "You put too much faith in the hearts of men, Altaïr. The Templars know the truth. Humans are weak, base, and petty." However, Altair said that the Creed proved contrary, and Haras retorted that he believed that the Templars were too wise to believe the rubbish.
