Hap Monroe (1860-) was an American outlaw of the Wild West. A former acquaintance of Black Belle, he was arrested in Louisiana in 1898 and imprisoned in New Orleans before being sent off to Rhodes to be hanged. Black Belle, feeling remorse for breaking up with Monroe, arranged for the Arizona Kid to ambush his prison transfer convoy and rescue Monroe, who was delivered to a drop-off point from which he escaped.
