Hank Turnbull (1887 - 1938) was an American politician who served as the US Representative from Illinois' 7th congressional district from 1915 to 1935. He notably voted to pass the 19th Amendment, with his wife and six daughters serving as motivation. However, some became aware of Turnbull's frequent visits to brothels, showcasing his hypocrisy. Turnbull announced his campaign for Governor after the 1935 murder of his friend Roberto Ghillotti, a city councilman who was secretly on the payroll of Don Marcu Morello.
On 15 July 1938, due to his hawkish policy to combat organized crime, Don Ennio Salieri ordered caporegime Tommy Angelo to assassinate Turnbull as he gave a speech at Robinson Park in Chinatown. Angelo used a planted sniper rifle located in the guard tower of the abandoned Cook County Prison to shoot Turnbull in the head, fleeing from the prison and a swarm of CPD in the chaos afterward. This assassination silenced further public criticism of Salieri, making him virtually untouchable.
