Henry William "Hank" Thompson (3 September 1925-6 November 2007) was an American country singer-songwriter. Born in Waco, Texas, he served in the US Navy during World War II before becoming a country musician; he achieved his first hit in 1952 with "The Wild Side of Life". He recorded for Capitol Records from 1947 to 1964 and then for Warner Bros. Records from 1966 to 1967 and for Dot Records and MCA Records from 1968 to 1980. Thompson was a conservative Southern Democrat who performed on the campaign trail for George and Lurleen Wallace.
