The Hanging Dog Ranch shootout was a major shootout between the Van der Linde Gang and the O'Driscoll Boys which occurred at Hanging Dog Ranch in Moffat County, Colorado during the Wild West.

Sadie Adler, whose husband Jake Adler had been murdered by the O'Driscolls at their ranch in Montana earlier that year, discovered that the last of the O'Driscoll Boys had holed up at Hanging Dog Ranch following the hanging of their gang's leader Colm O'Driscoll in New Orleans. She recruited her fellow gang member Arthur Morgan to accompany her in finishing off their gang's arch-nemeses, and the two rode together to the ranch. There, Morgan opened fire on the guards at the front gate as Adler lobbed flaming bottles at one of the ranch's sheds, killing a few outlaws. The two proceeded to team up in slowly clearing the ranch, with Adler shouting her name, her husband's name, curses, and about the ruining of her life as she went on a murderous rampage. Adler and Morgan then parted ways so that Morgan could clear the barn and Adler could clear the farmhouse, and, when Morgan was done, he found Adler in the farmhouse stabbing her husband's killer Tom McCartan, the last O'Driscoll. In addition to Tom, Ciarán O'Donoghue, Kyle MacHenry, Levi O'Hanraghty, Hugh O'Dempsey, Casey Queally, Lewis Bodkin, Adrian O'Donovan, Richard O'Scully, Alfie Harrington, Edward Phelan, Senan Tiernan, Alex Kindellan, Henry Dorgan, Cathal Downing, Theo O'Galvin, Bobby MacGilfoyle, Odhrán MacGuire, Zach MacLoughlin, Aaron Henchy, Jonah McDermott, Mason O'Ahern, Samuel Duddy, Tiernan Kennedy, Kyle Nagle, Dylan Muldowney, Cormac O'Reilly, Alfie O'Reilly, and Denis MacColgan were killed in the shootout. Adler, having avenged her husband by wiping out the O'Driscolls, rode back to the gang's hideout at Beaver Hollow, Arkansas, while Marston stayed to loot the bodies of money, tonics, and ammunition. He stayed around long enough to be tracked down by lawmen responding to the shootout, and he killed the US Marshals Julius Y. Sibley, Tabrannus F. Cleaver, Elsworth G. Laird, Burley W. Loupton, Charlie K. Haven, Augustus D. Gillmer, Delmar A. McLellan, Gorden Y. Fickling, and Otto Z. McGrale when they came in separate groups to capture or kill him. Morgan proceeded to loot their bodies as well, and he then set out for the Wapiti Indian Reservation to meet with Charles Smith, leaving the ranch desolate and strewn with corpses.
