Al-Qaeda

Abu Hamza Rabia (1960-30 November 2005) was an Egyptian member of Al-Qaeda who was known as its third-in-command until his 2005 death.

Biography[]

Abu Hamza Rabia was one of the Al-Qaedans in Afghanistan who chose to stay and fight in the country rather than run and hide, fighting alongside Khabab al-Masri, Ammar al-Baluchi, and Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti. He later fled into Pakistan, where United States troops were not allowed, hoping to seek sanctuary with the pro-terrorist government.

Death[]

Rabia was killed along with four other men in the village of Asoray, not far from the North Waziristan capital of Miranshah, in a US predator drone strike. This caused controversy with Pakistan, although the drone was unmanned.
