Hampton's Legion was a Confederate States Army cavalry legion which was active from 1861 to 1865 during the American Civil War. It was organized and partly financed by Confederate general Wade Hampton III, who raised six companies of infantry, two of cavalry, and one of light artillery from South Carolina. It participated in virtually every campaign of the Eastern Theater, most of it as part of the Army of Northern Virginia. Most of the legion surrendered with Robert E. Lee at Appomattox on 9 April 1865, but its remnants surrendered in North Carolina on 26 April.
