
Hamid Taqavi (1955-27 December 2014) was an Iranian IRGC brigadier-general who served as a commander of Quds Force during the Iraqi Civil War.
Biography[]
Hamid Taqavi was born in 1955, and he joined the IRGC on the start of the Iran-Iraq War in 1980 and lost his father and brother in Operation Kheibar and the First Battle of al-Faw. He rose to command the Ramazan Headquarters, and he rose through the ranks during peacetime. During the Iraqi Civil War, Brigadier-General Taqavi served as a Quds Force advisor to the Iraqi Army during the fight against ISIL, and he was killed by ISIL militants in the vicinity of the shrine of Hasan al-ASkari at Samarra.
