Hamadi Jebali (born 12 January 1949) was the Prime Minister of Tunisia from 2011 to 2013, succeeding Beji Caid el-Sebsi and preceding Ali Laarayedh.
Biography[]
Hamadi Jebali was born on 12 January 1949 in Sousse, Tunisia. A mechanical engineer by trade, he founded his own enterprise with solar energy and wind power, and he became involved with the Islamist Ennahda Movement in 1981. Following the 2011 Tunisian Revolution, the Ennahda Movement was legalized and Jebali became its Secretary-General and spokesman. On 14 December 2011, he was elected as Prime Minister under President Moncef Marzouki, but, on 19 February 2013, he resigned amid debates over the Islamization of the country.
