Hallad Rognvaldsson (870-910) was Jarl of Orkneyar from 893 to 910, succeeding Guthorm Sigurdsson and preceding Torf-Einarr.
Biography[]
Hallad Rognvaldsson was born in 870, the son of Jarl Rognvald Eysteinsson, the nephew of Jarl Sigurd Eysteinsson, and the cousin of Guthorm Sigurdsson. He succeeded his cousin Guthorm as Jarl of Orkneyar on his death in 893, but he fled to Norway after failing to constrain Danish raids on Orkney. In 910, he returned to Sutherland to take on the Danes, but he was slain in battle at Strath Halladale and buried in a trench. He was succeeded by his brother Torf-Einarr.
