Hakon Hemingsson

Hakon Hemingsson (died 793) was a Norwegian blacksmith during the 8th century AD. In 793, he forged an anchor for Ragnarr Lodbrok's new longship before he set out on a raiding expedition to the British Isles. Earl Haraldson later came to him and demanded to know if he forged the anchor; he initially lied and said that he did not, but he grew defensive about his daughter when Svein stood near her, causing his interrogators to grow suspicious about his reliability. Ultimately, he confessed, and Haraldson had Svein execute him in front of his daughter after having Hakon see his future - his own death - in the forging fire.
