
Haji Bektash Veli (1110-) was the Dedebaba of the Bektashi Order from 1135.
Biography[]
Haji Bektashi Veli was born in 1110 to the Bektaids, a dynasty of Sunni Muslim Persians. A mystic from Khorasan, he strove for a "unity of being" and founded the Bektashi Order, which trained the soul through meditation and contemplation of the inner meaning of the Quran. The order was warlike and especially popular among Sunni Muslim soldiers, swearing to fight infidels and polytheists of all types.
