Haidar Singh Nadig (15 February 1700-12 October 1775) was a politician of the Maratha Confederacy.
Biography[]
Haidar Singh Nadig was born on 15 February 1700 in Chandigarh, Punjab, in the Maratha Confederacy (present-day India) to a Sikh family. Nadig was appointed to public office for the first time in 1729 when the Marathas made him a representative of the Punjab region in their upper house. Nadig was a member of the Sikh group of Punjab, which was decreasing due to the conversion of much of the peoples of India to Hinduism by Hindu brahmans. Nadig served in this post until his death in 1775.
