Hackney is a borough in North East London. It originated as a medieval parish, which was once the largest in Middlesex, and it became a part of the County of London in 1888 and a part of Greater London in 1965. In 2017, it had a population of 275,900 people, with 36.2% being white British, 2.1% white Irish, .2% white Romani, 16.2% other white, 2% White-Caribbean, 1.2% White-African, 1.2% White-Asian, 2% other mixed, 3.1% Indian, .8% Pakistani, 2.5% Bangladeshi, 1.4% Chinese, 2.7% other Asian, 11.4% Black African, 7.8% Black Caribbean, 3.9% other black, .7% Arab, and 4.6% other.
