Habibollah Latifi () was a member of the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) rebel group in Iran who was sentenced to death in 2008 for "waging war against God". On 2 September 2015, after a large movement was formed to free Latifi, Ali Khamenei cancelled his execution.
Biography[]
Habibollah Latifi was from a family of Iranian Kurds, and he attended Azad University, pursuing a law degree. He was an excellent student and an athlete, but he joined the Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) rebel group, leading to his arrest in October 2007. After four months of interrogation and torture, in 2008 he was sentenced to death for "waging war against God", and on 2 September 2015 Ali Khamenei cancelled his death sentence due to opposition from human rights groups.
