The HMHS Britannic was a British steamship that served as a hospital ship during World War I. Built in Belfast for the White Star Line, she was laid down on 30 November 1911 and was launched on 26 February 1914. She was converted into a Royal Navy hospital ship in 1915, serving in the Gallipoli campaign before striking an Imperial German Navy mine near the Greek island of Kea on 21 November 1916. 30 of her 1,066 passengers were killed, and she was the largest ship lost in the war.
